STEM Challenge

Our brains reverse the negative image and turn it into a positive.
“With the light bulb illusion, the glass of the bulb is a large area of black, so that when we look away, the reversal results in a dazzling bulb,” according to illusions.org.
STEM Making Headlines
Take a look at this global celebrity! Moo Deng is a pygmy hippopotamus born at the Kheow Open Zoo, in Chonburi, Thailand on September 15th. Native to West Africa, pygmy hippos are an endangered species. There are only about 2,000 of them left in the wild.

Future Creatures Challenge:
Registration is now open for the Future Creatures Challenge and is open to all k-12 students. Draw how a rainforest animal may adapt in the future to climate change.

Weird Wonders
Asperitas clouds are a relatively new cloud classification, officially recognized by the World Meteorological Organization in 2017. Their unique appearance is often described as resembling a turbulent, choppy sea and Asperitas in Latin means "roughness". These clouds typically form at altitudes between 2,000 and 6,000 feet, often associated with thunderstorms or strong cold fronts.
